Walton County
A small personal care home in Walton County.
The Joy is in Loganville, right where Walton County meets Gwinnett. It's a licensed personal care home with memory care and 24 suites, about fifteen minutes from Monroe. Mellissa Daniel runs the house.
Staying in the county
Loganville sits on the line between two counties. The Joy is on the Walton side, on Conyers Road.
If your mom has spent her life in Monroe, Social Circle, Between, Good Hope or Walnut Grove, she doesn't have to leave the county to get more help. Her church friends can still come by. So can her neighbors and the grandkids.
We're one house with 24 suites. Everyone eats at the same table. Staff know who needs the long walk after lunch and who needs quiet when the afternoon gets hard.
If you're caring for a parent at home and not ready for any of this, that's fine too. A free caregiver support group meets here on the third Thursday of every month at 2pm. Walton families are welcome, whether or not a move is ever on the table.
Needing more help doesn't have to mean leaving the county.
Fifteen minutes from Monroe, and from Piedmont Walton
From downtown Monroe it's about fifteen minutes west on Highway 78. Piedmont Walton is about fifteen minutes from the house, too.
A lot of hard decisions start in a hospital room. Someone tells you your mom can't go back home alone, and you have a weekend to figure out what comes next. If that's where you are, call us from the hospital. When we can, Mellissa will assess her the same day, and she can come to the bedside. We'll tell you what's open and what a move would look like.
If it's too soon to decide, a respite stay can bridge the gap. It runs from a few days to a few weeks, with the same care every resident gets.
What to check anywhere you tour
Whether you tour one place or five, ask each of them the same questions.
Ask for the license type and number. Georgia's Department of Community Health inspects personal care homes, and the reports are public. Read the recent ones. Ours are linked from our About page.
Ask who's awake at night and who gives medications. At The Joy, a certified medication aide is on staff 24 hours a day, overnight included. A nurse is on site 24 hours a week across three days, and not overnight.
Ask what happens when a resident's needs change. A good home will tell you where its line is. So will we.
What it costs
We publish our prices. Personal care starts at $5,500 a month, and memory care starts at $6,000. Mellissa sets the exact rate after she meets your parent, because it depends on the care they need.
The rate covers the suite, three cooked meals a day, help with bathing, dressing and medications, housekeeping and laundry, and someone awake all night. One number, one check.
